For the best part of 60 years I’ve been trying to tame the beast that is jazz clarinet – aiming to escape from the all-enveloping shadows of Benny Goodman and Buddy de Franco while simultaneously avoiding the carnivorous species of the saxophone family. My ‘style’, if that isn’t too grand a word, tends towards the folky and rustic (Bill Smith<\/strong><\/a> and Jimmy Giuffre<\/strong><\/a> are much to my taste), but I also have an interest in digital audio. This album, uploaded to DistroKid<\/strong><\/a> today, is a selection of reedy noises from the Crypt. It also includes a couple of examples of the wind controller<\/strong><\/a> in action. I’m under no illusions: this is pretty niche stuff.
